The mouthguard, called as “ mouth protector”, is used for people who play contact sports such as football, baseball, wrestling, volleyball, boxing, soccer, ice hockey, basketball, lacrosse, and field hockey that made by soft plastic to protect jaws in the potential for trauma.

When people get dental injuries, it is waste time and money because those injuries can deform the face, and they can not go to school or participate any sport activities. Athletic mouth guards should fit properly, be durable and easy to clean, not restrict their speech or breathing.

Who needs the mouthguard?

The mouthguard should be used by anyone – both children and adults. In some cases unfortunatly, children or adults are fallen or impact to others and get the dental injury, so that they are recommended to wear it during sport activities as well as orthodontic treatments. Generally, mouthguard usually covers only the upper teeth, but in some cases the orthodontist will make a mouth guard for the lower teeth as well. Depending on different cases, the mouth guards will custom its design to suitable with patient’s jaw. Patients can seek the assistance of an orthodontist to ensure proper mouth guard thickness and adequate protection in critical areas, based on the sporting activity.

Pros:

- Protect the jaw from any dangerous injuries, and give the treatment ( if neccessary).

- Restrict dangerous injuries such as traumatic brain injury, cerebral hemorrhage, fainting, jaw fractures and neck injuries (by preventing cases that the lower jaw gets jammed into the upper jaw because of banging into each other).

- Protect the soft oral tissues to avoid tearing, bruising of the lips and cheeks for those who are wearing the orthodontic instrument.

- Improve the exchange air, increase the stamina during exercises and sport competitions.
